Cultural & Entertainment
We were pleasantly surprised by the level of cultural and entertainment options available here in the Rogue Valley. Between Britt Festivals musical offerings, the world-famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and a number of other professional entertainment venues, you will find a wide range of cultural and entertainment options.
The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is a world-class repertory theater which sells more than 400,000 tickets each year. And it's not just Shakespeare! They also present current play-writes as well as other classics. Performances run from mid-February through October.
The Craterian Theatre offers everything from Broadway musicals to live comedy and musical performances - Bernadette Peters, Manhattan Transfer, and Judi Collins to name a few. They are also now home to the Next Stage Repertory Company.
For music, of course we like the Britt Festival right here in Jacksonville from June through September. What could be more convenient than having a world class music venue just five blocks away! Classical Festival in August is our favorite time. However, the feature name acts throughout the season have developed in us a deep appreciation for live performance. Rogue Opera and Rogue Valley Symphony add to the cultural mix of the valley.
There are a number of local and regional performers at several venues in the area. Bella Union and South Stage Cellars in Jacksonville feature live music on a regular basis. Also, check out the winery events for additional offerings.
