If you haven't heard about the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) you are in for a treat. Who would expect a theatre company of this caliber in Southern Oregon? Quite a few people are in the know about this cultural jewel as more than 400,000 tickets are sold each year. And it's not just Shakespeare! Even though each season offers a solid selection of the bard's play, they also present current play-writes as well as other classics.
OSF is located in Ashland, an easy 2o minute drive away. Many of our guests have found that staying in Jacksonville while attending plays in Ashland gives them the best of both locations – the quiet and small town charm of Jacksonville, and the cultural sophistication of OSF.
Performances run from mid-February through October. The repertory begins with about 4 plays in February and builds to 13 during mid season. You can choose to enjoy a production on the outdoor Elizabethan Stage, or an indoor production in the Angus Bowmer or the New Theatres. With evening and matinee performances available you can pack in an intense theatre experience, or sample just one or two.
