Gary Renninger Balfour (on the left, above left) and Tim Balfour (on the right, above left) are the owners/operators of TouVelle House.

We moved to Jacksonville from Delaware in 2004 even though we had only stopped in Jacksonville for one day during a vacation the previous year. We couldn't stop thinking about this incredible property and the wonderful town of Jacksonville so decided to take a leap of faith and move across country and become innkeepers.

We continue to enjoy being the stewards for TouVelle House and take pride in the enhancements we have made to the house and especially to the gardens. We also love the easy access to the cultural activities of the area, the dedicated people who contribute to our town and valley as well as the easy access to hiking and other outdoor activities available in Southern Oregon.

After working in the information technology industry, Gary enjoys the hands on and inter-personal aspects of running a Bed and Breakfast. He is the one with whom you will speak on the phone and the one who makes our outstanding breakfasts.

Gary is originally from central Pennsylvania and has also lived in Washington DC and Delaware.  He speaks German and lived there during study abroad and internship programs.

Tim is originally from Kansas and has lived in Pennsylvania (where he met Gary) and Delaware. He worked in higher education admissions and financial aid and in education financing, most recently with a non-profit organization that provided education financing to graduate and professional students.

Now he is working full-time with Gary running the bed & breakfast and specializes in gardening and landscaping.

Although neither Tim nor Gary had ran or worked in a bed and breakfast before, Tim's parents opened one of the first Bed and Breakfasts in Kansas. They were very helpful as we got things started, giving us lots of sound advice.

They, along with Gary's mother, continue to be our most reliable sources for constructive criticism, helping to ensure that our facilities are up to their standards and will meet your needs.

You may also encounter our pugs – Lewis and Clark.  We adopted them when they were 10 months old in the fall of 2011. They are brothers who have never been apart and continue to be constant companions. Although we find them totally adorable we know that all of our guests aren't necessarily pet fans or have allergies.  No worries. We keep them in our private quarters and they aren't allowed in the guest rooms.  However, if you would like to meet them just ask.  They are always glad to come out and say hello.
