We are Shawn and Jamie Kerr, new owners as of January 2014, and we look forward to welcoming you to TouVelle House. We are new citizens to Jacksonville, having just relocated from Los Angeles but we are not newcomers to small town living. Jamie grew up in Medford and Shawn was raised in Laramie, Wyoming.
Jamie recently completed her third degree; an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from the International Culinary School at the Art Institute in Los Angeles. Before that she started her career as a librarian at UCSB and then worked as a police officer for the City of Ventura for 10 years.
Shawn enlisted into the Navy out of high school and served in several of the Gulf War campaigns. After 10 years as a bomb technician, Shawn retired from military service and had been working as a digital forensic analyst for a private firm in Los Angeles. He is currently working as a consultant for the State of California to help build digital forensic crime labs throughout the state.
We were eager to leave the hustle and bustle of big city life in California and look forward to making Jacksonville our new home along with our two dogs, Karlos (Jamie’s former K9 partner) and Ella, a 10 year old Weimaraner.
After working in fields where conflict resolution and crisis management were normal occurance between breakfast and lunch we just want to get our hands in the garden and our minds in the kitchen and to connect with people through hospitality and food.
Jamie and Shawn purchased the inn from Tim and Gary Balfour, owners from 2004 - 2013. Jamie trained with Gary for a full month before stepping in as innkeeper for several months before the purchase was finalized.
Tim and Gary are staying in Jacksonville and will be helping Shawn and Jamie out periodically. They will step in as interim innkeepers when needed to give Shawn and Jamie some vacation time as well as help them learn the subtle nuances of the historic home and grounds. Otherwise they are going to be having a great time enjoying all of the great Southern Oregon activities.
